Many farmers till during the fall. Tilling destroys soil aggregates and makes the soil more prone to erosion. This year, we encourage you to improve your soil’s health by utilizing the no-till method.

Conservation tillage is a way to plant crops without plowing or with minimum tilling of the soil.

The No-Till Drill is a piece of equipment that leaves the soil and crop residues undisturbed with the exception of the area where the seed is placed in the ground.

The No- Till Drill also saves soil, improves water quality, and improves fertility by keeping soil and crop residue in the field.

More information on utilizing the no-till drill and other conservation practices can be found on the USDA- Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) website or by contacting your local NRCS service center.
